A4 What does the phrase “iron curtain” signify and who created the phrase? – Iron Curtain was to express the division between communist and non-communist countries in Europe. It was coined by Winston Churchill.

A5 What is the policy of containment? – The act of preventing (or containing) the spread of Communism to other nations.

A6 What was the Truman Doctrine? (Hint: It has to do with what Harry Truman likes to eat…) – President Truman’s foreign policy plan to give aid to Greece and Turkey in order to prevent free nations from falling to Communism.
