DANAOS MRV tool is an integral part of the DANAOS Web Enterprise Suite with the main scope of addressing the requirements of EU MRV Regulation. DANAOS MRV

EU MRV Regulation Pillars & DANAOS MRV 1.Monitoring 2.Reporting 3.Verification Scope of DANAOS MRV tool

The Problem: Regulation (EU) 2015/757 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 29 April 2015 on the monitoring, reporting and verification of carbon dioxide emissions from maritime transport, (hereinafter the MRV REGULATION) and Directive 2009/16/EC as amended requires to monitor and report the CO 2 emissions from ships arriving at within or departing from ports under the jurisdiction of a Member State, and to have the reports verified by an independent and accredited verifier. DANAOS MRV “EU version of SEEMP”

Collects all the required data: From Telegrams reports or From onboard equipment and sensors. DANAOS M R V The Solution: DANAOS MRV module MONITORING DANAOS MRV is compatible with all methods described in EU MRV Regulation for data collection. Discriminates which voyages fall under EU MRV Regulation Intra - EU voyages In/Outbound voyages

The Solution: DANAOS MRV module Validates and cross-checks results against predefined rules. Pre-verifies consolidated data prior to transmitting them to the respective 3rd party verification bodies. DANAOS MRV tool utilises emission data that flow through the Commercial Suite & Technical Suite. Monitoring plan template(s) (pending) integrated into DANAOS MRV for different vessels types. The Solution: DANAOS MRV module MONITORING DANAOS M R V

REPORTING Integrated solution of DANAOS Web Enterprise Suite. Emissions Reports are produced electronically. Monitoring plan is automatically ready for reviewing. Data analysis and pattern identification process within DANAOS MRV tool. Templates are aligned to each VERIFIER reporting requirements. Minimum time and due diligence on behalf of the USER

DANAOS M R V VERIFICATION DANAOS serves the verification process by: Integrating any applicable Monitoring Plan Validating data in order to minimise discrepancies. Linking the USER with the VERIFIER seamlessly. DanaosONE may be used for communicating the data safely and efficiently between the USER and the VERIFIER. DANAOS MRV streamlines the emissions verification process

DANAOS MRV goes one step further allowing for: Vessel efficiency performance monitoring. Minimising regulatory compliance workload and non-compliance risks. Protecting commercial sensitive data due to the reporting requirements. Accuracy of data reported to EU authorities.

DANAOS MRV What is the EU MRV Regulation? A few thoughts. EU’s effort to quantify the actual environmental footprint of shipping. An effort to regulate the maritime industry landscape. An initial step, in shipping, to measure the main culprit for GHG, CO 2 emissions. Identification of proper measures to mitigate the GHG emissions originating from large mean going vessels. An effort to impose tax to the shipping industry through an ETS scheme? EU MRV Regulation is a very technical and environmental savvy-way to spell “TAXATION”

Theodoros G. Papoutsoglou, NA&ME MEng (NTUA), MSc Business Development DANAOS Management Consultants S.A. DANAOS MRV Thank you!
