New students Foreigners who hold resident visa should go to local service center of National Immigration Agency to apply Alien Resident Certificate within 15 days. Fee ： NT$1,000. (1 year) 20

24 Q&A If your ARC’s expiration date is on Saturday or on Sunday, you may ask: can I extend my ARC until next Monday ? → Yes Expiration date （ On Saturday ）： → Need to go local service center before Monday noon. Expiration date （ On Sunday ）： → You can go to local service center on Monday (All day long ） ★ we still recommend you to apply for the extension earlier.

32 4.Information for Overstay Penalties: Overstay of 1 – 10 days, fine of NT$2,000. Overstay of 11 – 30 days, fine of NT$4,000. Overstay of 31 – 60 days, fine of NT$6,000. Overstay of 61 – 90 days, fine of NT$8,000. Overstay of 91 and more, fine of NT$10,000. ★ Notice your ARC expiration date.

33 ★ If you overstay less than 30 days and you are still a student, you can take the enrollment certificate to local service center. After paying the fine, your ARC may be renewed without exit. You must complete the whole process by yourself.

34 Q&A Can I work in Taiwan without the work permit? →No! Illegal employment → The penalties are from NT30,000 up to NT150,000. → You will be deported and prohibited entry Taiwan for 3 years.
