 The climate of New Mexico is highly arid

 First habitated by native Americans.  Discovered by Fray Marcos de Niza.  1598 was founded the San Juan de los Caballeros colony.  Was a part of New Spain.

 Population  1,984,356.  7.2% under 5 years old.  28% under 18 years old.  11.7% 65 or older.  Females make up approximately 50.8% of the population.
