Los Angeles,California,USA

Los Angeles is the largest city of California. It's located in the south west of the United States. It has an estimated population of 18,5 million inhabitants. These inhabitants are known as « Angelenos ». The city is usually called LA. HERE Geography

Los Angeles was founded in 1781 by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. It became part of Mexico in 1821 after the independence from Spain. Los Angeles area was colonized by Spanish settlers that's why the Spanish are a large part of the population of LA. A Statue of Felipe de Neve

According to a 2007 census, White Americans make up 48,7% of the population. Hispanics and Latinos make up 48,5%. The rest of the population consists in a minority of African Americans, Native Americans or Asian Americans. In the fall of 2008s the population increased up to 4 million inhabitants. A lot of adverts are written in Spanish, in Los Angeles as in all the state. The Mexican community is very important.

The Los Angeles Lakers are the National Basketball Association (NBA) team based in Los Angeles. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center. They are really famous all over the world because they won sixteen NBA championship. Some basketball expert ranked the Lakers as the greatest NBA franchise of all times. Los Angeles is also well-known thanks to Malibu, one of the several coastal beaches which used to be the scene of a televison serie. It is also known for Hollywood is a very famous district because of its cinematographic studios not to speak of Hollywood Boulevard which is a street where the most famous artists' names are written. Hollywood Stars Boulevard Malibu Beach, a wonderful coastal beach.
