TRUTH WAR Jude 3- Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.

"CONTEND EARNESTLY epagonizomai Agonize "to struggle for"; "to exert intense effort on behalf of something (the faith)" (Louw and Nida) 1 Timothy 3:15 - but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.

We are in a state of war Ephesians 6:12- For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 2 Corinthians 10: for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

1 Timothy 1:18 - this command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight 2 Corinthians 6:7 - 7 in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,

Matthew 26: 52 - "put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword" John 18:36 - Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm."

IN THIS WAR TRUTH IS THE ISSUE Doctrine Doctrine – Another word for Teaching. The word tells us there is a body of Truth we are to follow and know. Galatians 1:8-9 (NASB) 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed! 2 John 1:9 (NASB) Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ (doctrine of Christ), does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching (i.e. doctrine), he has both the Father and the Son.

John 5:24 - "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.”

DID YOU HEAR ME?

John 6:63 -- "the words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." (Not just the way of Jesus, the words of Jesus. What he taught, what he said it to be respected— and the way we respect His words – DO THEM)

MATTHEW 7: "not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!' Will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my father in heaven will enter. 22 On judgment day many will say to me, 'lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.' 23 but I will reply, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God's laws.' (HOLY BIBLE, NEW LIVING TRANSLATION)

James 2:17 - Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. James 2:17 - So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead). AMP James 2:18 – “but someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works."

JOHN 8:31-32 – "IF YOU CONTINUE IN MY WORD, THEN YOU ARE TRULY DISCIPLES OF MINE; 32 AND YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH WILL MAKE YOU FREE."

MATTHEW 7:24 – "EVERYONE THEN WHO HEARS THESE WORDS OF MINE AND DOES THEM WILL BE LIKE A WISE MAN WHO BUILT HIS HOUSE ON THE ROCK.”

MATTHEW 7:26 – AND EVERYONE WHO HEARS THESE WORDS OF MINE AND DOES NOT DO THEM WILL BE LIKE A FOOLISH MAN WHO BUILT HIS HOUSE ON THE SAND.

Romans 10:1-3 - Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. 2 I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. ESV

IN THIS WAR TRUTH IS VITAL! 1 John 2:3 - By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 1 John 2:4 - The one who says, " I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; John 14:15 – “If you love me you will keep my commandments.”

2 CORINTHIANS 2:11 -"WE ARE NOT IGNORANT OF HIS SCHEMES First, he QUESTIONS the truth God has revealed. "Has God indeed said, you shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" Genesis 3:1 Second he CONTRADICTS what God has said. "You will not surely die" verse four. Third, he CONCOCTS an alternative version of "truth". "God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you'll be like God, knowing good and evil" verse five.

2 Corinthians 11: For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

Acts 20: 29 – 31 - "for I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw way the disciples after themselves. Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.”

JOHN 17:17 – SANCTIFY THEM IN THE TRUTH; YOUR WORD IS TRUTH.
