What is Sociology? It is the systematic study of human society and social interaction Let’s us see how our behaviours are shaped by the groups to which we belong AND by the society in which we live Let’s us see how issues that are viewed as personal troubles are actually related to larger social forces

As the study of humans in their shared characteristics, sociology is concerned with all group activities »Economics »Social »Political »Religious

Sociologist Study such areas as bureaucracy, community, deviant behaviour, family, public opinion, social change, social mobility, and special problems such as crime, poverty, divorce, abuse, and addiction

Why is it important? Sociological Imagination is the ability to see the relationship between individual experience and the larger society
