May 2008 Slide Doc: IEEE ban SooHwan, YangMoon, SungHyup (KORPA) and DoHyeun Kim (Cheju National University) 3 Purpose and Contents This document presents considerations of wireless flexible display equipment for BAN Contents –Display equipment for Human –Development of display equipment –Examples of wireless flexible display equipment –Advantages of wireless flexible display equipment –How can keep information and suppress EMC –Considerations of wireless display

May 2008 Slide Doc: IEEE ban SooHwan, YangMoon, SungHyup (KORPA) and DoHyeun Kim (Cheju National University) 4 Display equipment for Human Sight is the most important thing among five senses - According to statistical data, the rate of sight is about 80% Display equipments are also very important thing for human Handheld display equipments are essential for WPAN and WBAN

May 2008 Slide Doc: IEEE ban SooHwan, YangMoon, SungHyup (KORPA) and DoHyeun Kim (Cheju National University) 5 Development of display equipment Light and efficient display equipments such as LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) are adopted in cell phones or PDAs Flexible display equipment is being developed now Using flexible display equipment, you can carry easily large screen (Larger than those of cell phones or PDAs)

May 2008 Slide Doc: IEEE ban SooHwan, YangMoon, SungHyup (KORPA) and DoHyeun Kim (Cheju National University) 6 Examples of wireless flexible display equipment Glasses / Goggles E-Book HMD (Helmet Mounted Display)

May 2008 Slide Doc: IEEE ban SooHwan, YangMoon, SungHyup (KORPA) and DoHyeun Kim (Cheju National University) 7 Advantages of wireless flexible display equipment Carry/Handle large screen easily Reduce connecting time and power consumption, but keep information Suppress EMC

May 2008 Slide Doc: IEEE ban SooHwan, YangMoon, SungHyup (KORPA) and DoHyeun Kim (Cheju National University) How can keep information and suppress EMC 8 E-ink can memory its state “Memory” doesn’t mean memory ICs It keeps its state without electric resource Although it is not connected, you can keep information until you refresh data. During “Keeping time”, EMC problem never happen because it is turned off

May 2008 Slide Doc: IEEE ban SooHwan, YangMoon, SungHyup (KORPA) and DoHyeun Kim (Cheju National University) Considerations of wireless display 9 Improving Data processing rate n : up to 300Mbps - 640X480 resolution, 4096 color (=RGB 4 bits) : Approximate 285Mbps  High rate is needed for high resolution and more colorful display Dual transmission makes Data processing rate twice - According to MAC, such as CDMA, two transmitters and two receivers can transmit each other at once - Each Tx and Rx just treat half of data
