What is Wireless Gateway  A wireless gateway routes packets from a wireless LAN to another network, wired or wireless WAN.  It may be implemented as software or hardware or combination of both. Wireless gateways combine the functions of a wireless access point, a router, and often provide firewall functions as well.  Gateways are often popular in homes and businesses where there are many different competing uses for a wireless network.  They can also provide firewall and hosting functions.

Gateway wireless for Home  D-link  Above is the D-LINK DAP-1360 WL-N ACCESS POINT.  Its has seven operating modes which are Access Point, Wireless Client, Bridge, Bridge with AP, Repeater, WISP Client Router or WISP Repeater  The device interfaces are g/n wireless LAN and One 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet LAN port  Operating frequency is 2.4 to GHz

 The management features of this device are : -Web-based management through  Microsoft -Internet Explorer 6 or higher -Firefox 1.5 or higher -Other Java-enabled browser  The security features of this device are: -MAC address filtering -SSID broadcast disable function -WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)

High speed data transmission on single twisted copper pair  full rate operations up to 24 Mbit/s in downstream  automatic data detection (e.g. FAX) on POTS ports  b/g WLAN - support for up to 54Mbit/s data transmission rate  Wi-Fi WPA for data security  full featured Router and Firewall, support for secure wireless transmitting and Authentication  firewall filtering functions, allowing better network security and management  Security: URL filtering, dynamic Firewall SINOPE568+ WIRELESS HOME GATEWAY RM

Gateway wireless for Enterprise / Business Comcast Business is providing an all-in-one D3 wireless device: the Comcast Business Wireless Gateway (BWG). The Enterprise Wireless Gateway provides Comcast Business Internet customers with:  Business IP Gateway  Private WiFi network for business use  XFINITY® WiFi hotspot service The Enterprise Wireless Gateway is an all-in-one product that connects Comcast Business Internet and Business WiFi networking. It provides wired and WiFi connectivity, so there's no need for a separate router. The instructions below will guide you through setting up your Private and Public WiFi networks.  Dual-Band WiFi 2.4 & 5 GHz  Content Controls  Firewall  Port Forwarding & Blocking  WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) Comcast Business Wireless Gateway Model: DPC3939B

 Although the Enterprise Wireless Gateway simultaneously broadcasts both 2.4 and 5 GHz, WiFi devices can connect to only one Wi-Fi network at a time 5 GHz WiFi signals may not travel as far as 2.4 GHz.  In areas of your business that are furthest away from the Business Wireless Gateway, only the 2.4 GHz network may be available.

COMPARISON

As conclusion a gateway is one of the many ways we can communicate over the World Wide Web. The gateway allows us to enter different networks on the internet so we can transmit data back and forth. There's also software available where you can be able to run several networks on a computer. CONCLUSION
