2 Matilda is very smart girl.

3 She taught herself how to read by the time she was three years old!

4 Matilda’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood did not think reading was good.

5 Matilda walked to the library everyday when her mother went to play BINGO.

6 Matilda read all the children’s books in the library!

7 She read even some grown-up books too!

8 Matilda’s parents were not impressed and wanted her to go watch TV.

9 Matilda’s parents are really mean.

10 Her dad sells old cars.

11 He tricks people into thinking they are new but they are really about to break down.

12 Mr. Wormwood only tells his son, Michael, about the business.

13 Matilda knows that her dad is doing the wrong thing.

14 Matilda’s family eats dinner in front of the TV and they do no talk to each other.

15 Matilda is tired of her dad being mean to her so she hatches a plan!

16 Matilda’s dad wears a silly hat everyday.

17 When her dad is not looking, Matilda puts super glue on the inside of it.

42 At school, Matilda makes friends with Lavender.

43 In the playground they see Miss Trunchbull pick up a girl and swing her by her pigtails!

44 Then all the students in the school needed to go to an assembly.

45 They had to watch a boy eat a whole cake because he stole one slice from Miss Trunchbull!

46 He looked like he was going to be sick!

47 Lavender wanted to play a joke on Miss Trunchbull.

48 So Lavender put a newt in her water jug!

49 Miss Trunchbull came into Miss Honey’s class to see what the children learned and saw the newt.

50 She was so mad!

51 Miss Trunchbull thought Matilda did it!

52 Matilda was so mad that she made the water glass tip over and get Miss Trunchbull all wet.

53 Matilda has magic brain powers!

54 Matilda told Miss Honey what had happened and they went to her house.

55 Miss Honey is very poor. She lives in an old cottage with no heat or running water!

56 Miss Honey tells Matilda about her mean aunt that took all her money.

57 Miss Honey’s mean aunt is Miss Trunchbull!

58 Matilda has a plan!

59 The next week Matilda uses her powers again.

60 She makes the chalk write by itself!

61 She makes the chalk tell Miss Trunchbull to give Miss Honey back her money.

62 Miss Trunchbull gets so scared that she runs away!

63 Miss Honey gets to move back into her old house and is happy.

64 One day, Matilda’s parents said they were moving to Spain.

65 They needed to run away because Mr. Wormwood was a crook and in trouble with the law.

66 Matilda didn’t want to go so she went to live with Miss Honey.

67 And they lived happily ever after!
