Sealord Sealord is one of the largest deep water quota holders in New Zealand. 50+ years of fishing experience in New Zealand. - Quota ~130,000MT per annum (deep water catch) 7 years of finfish farming experience in Australia. - Farmed ~9,000MT per annum (salmon & barramundi) Sealord employs more than 1,100 people. NZD 775 million assets & NZD 430 million in revenue. Processing operations in Nelson, China, Thailand & UK. 98% of Sealord products are sold frozen. 97% of Sealord's volume is exported off-shore (4,000 TEU). Sealord imports (850 TEU) of seafood into New Zealand.

Opportunities & Challenges For Fishing: NZ is geographically isolated. - smaller ships - high freight rates Competing in commodity markets demands a globally competitive supply chain. Sustainability of regional ports, e.g. maintaining direct services ex Nelson. Cost effective doesn’t mean lowest cost. Aligning to global infrastructure developments. Fishing industry needs better collaboration with other Primary Industry & Export partners to help build scale & sustainability in our export vessel supply chain. Removal of waste from the supply chain.

NZ exporters needs to support a sustainable shipping network, and take a longer term view. Creating shared value and supply chain efficiency via collaboration. Shared technology and innovation. Lets not be afraid to allow suppliers to operate as an extension of your business. Align resource requirements and cross industry seasonality peaks to drive out waste. Partner with diverse & inclusive supply chain partners. Lets ensure we are ALL focusing on building secure, resilient and efficient supply chains that support NZ exciting export sector..
