IEEE in China ◆ There was one IEEE section — Beijing Section in China. ◆ Now we have established 6 new IEEE sections in Shanghai, Xian, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chendu, and Harbin. ◆ We are going to establish more IEEE Sections in Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Lanzhou etc.. ◆ There are more than 4000 IEEE members in China.

AESS in China ◆ There is only one IEEE AESS Chapter — AESS Beijing Chapter in China now, because there is only one IEEE Section — Beijing Section in China before. ◆ I am the Chair of AESS Beijing Chapter. My question is how to adapt the work of AESS to the new situation in China. ◆ What kind of AESS organization is suit the IEEE Beijing Council? Need we establish more Chapters in China?

3. APSAR conference The Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar (APSAR) is a international conference to devote the SAR technology development and application. The APSAR is a forum of SAR engineers and scientists from all the worlds, especially from the Asia- Pacific area.

APSAR conference During the conference RADAR 2006 at Shanghai in Oct.16-19, we had submitted the report to the meeting which was attended by the liaisons from various countries and organized by Professor H.D.Griffiths who takes charge of the AESS Standing Committee of International Activities. On the closing ceremony of Radar 2006, we formally declared to all the representatives our unanimous opinion that China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Australia jointly put forward the proposal to hold APSAR.

3. APSAR conference On behalf of the Chair of Technical Program Committee I am pleased to report you the APSAR 2007 conference will be held in Nov.5-9, 2007 in Huangshan, China. The TPC of APSAR 2007 has received more than 230 submitted papers. 196 papers were selected for presentation at the conference and including in the conference proceedings. These papers related to the SAR/ISAR systems 、 subsystems 、 signal processing 、 and SAR application. Amount them, 127 papers will be presented in 12 oral sessions, and 69 papers will be presented in 2 poster sessions.

4. Distinguished Lectures We hope invite 4-5 experts to China to give distinguished Lectures in ◆ They may give lectures in The 10th Anniversary National Radar Conference in Beijing. ◆ They can give lectures in 3-4 cities in China.
