Coffee Dispenser Set Up and Operation

Set up and Operation Start Up following installation Assuming all installation requirements have been met and the Vcafé is connected to power, the water tank will begin to fill. The Service Interface will display “Filling” during this process. Power to the heaters will be turned on when the water reaches the Safe level probe in the tank. Filling will continue until the water level reaches the Refill probe. During the heating cycle, the Service Interface will display “Warming up”, the water temperature and the current software revision. The Brew light, located on the Dispense Control panel will be on. If after five minutes, the normal tank level has not been reached, the Service Interface will display “Fill Too Long” (water on?) and the dispenser controls will be blocked, that is all machine functions are discontinued until a reset is initiated. Blocked conditions and Reset will be covered later in this class. Full coverage of this can also be found in the manual on pages 28 & 29. Set up and Operation Initial Operation Test Reg Ready Dec Ready Tank Temp 196  F Disp Temp 195  F When water reaches dispense temperature of 180°F ( 82°C) the Service interface will display Ready for Regular and Decaf, the actual Tank Temperature and the DispenseTemperature. Place concentrate packages in the refrigeration compartments and dispense product from each selection to verify coffee and decaf are being dispensed. Briefly remove each product container and press each dispense button to verify the sold out system function. Product dispense should be suspended and sold out indicators should illuminate on each side of the dispense panel. SOLD OUT INDICATORS READY LIGHTBREWING LIGHT Product Dispense Switches

Set up and Operation Portion Dispense and Timing Product Dispense Switches Currently, the standard dispense panel is a PC-2 configuration. That is, two product dispense switches are available for each of the two products. Maximum dispense time for both selections is 128 seconds. At the factory set dispense rate of 1.82 ounces/second, the maximum timed portion dispense is roughly 1.8 gallons (assuming 25:1 dispense ratio.) Using the Service Interface, all dispense button selections will be programmed to the same characteristics. That is, following selection of Mom. time out, Hold time out or Push and hold on the service interface, all buttons will reflect that behavior.

The Selections Are: Momentary time out A timed portion is delivered with a short press of the dispense button. Hold time out A timed portion is delivered by holding the selected button until the entire portion is dispensed. Push hold Un-timed manual dispense Choosing these selections will be covered in the Service Interface section of this class. For the time being, lets assume the PC2 configuration is going to be used. Location of hidden program switches Stop Switch Set up and Operation Portion Dispense and Timing Product Dispense Switches Setting Portion Timers 1.Place a suitable container below the nozzle of the selection that is to be programmed. This can be a measuring cup or the cup that will be used to serve the portion. 2.Simultaneously press the two hidden program switches located just above the large Coffee and Decaff dispense switches. A short duration “beep” will be heard, indicating the dispenser is now in the timer programming mode. 3.Press the dispense button corresponding to the selection to be timed, holding the button until the desired portion size or volume measurement is reached. Repeat for each dispense button. When the desired button is first pressed, a tone lasting two seconds will be heard. If the dispense button is released before the end of this tone, the selection will not be timed and will revert to Push Hold mode for that selection only. When the dispenser is configured for a Dispense Type of Mom time out or Hold time out, this feature allows for setting one button to a timed portion and the second to a manual dispense. If no button is pressed within 5 seconds after entering the programming mode, the machine will default to the previously programmed time/mode.

Set up and Operation Lock/Unlock and Nightswitch LOCK/UNLOCK To lock out only dispense functions, press the button labeled LOCK/UNLOCK When locked is pressed, dispense functions are disabled but the heaters remain on, allowing an unlocked machine to immediately dispense hot drinks without a warm up delay. Unauthorized dispense can be prevented by locking the front door. NIGHTSWITCH To lock out dispense functions and heater operation, press the button labeled NIGHTSWITCH. Locking the front door will prevent unauthorized dispense and water heating. Reg Ready Dec Ready Tank Temp 196  F Disp Temp 195  F Reg Ready Dec Ready Tank Temp 196  F Disp Temp 195  F

Set up and Operation Lock/Unlock and Nightswitch When a dispenser has been in the NIGHTSWITCH mode for an extended period, the water in the tank will fall well below dispense temperature, delaying dispense while the water is re-heated. If the account prefers, the NIGHTSWITCH feature can be disabled, relying then on the LOCK/UNLOCK feature to disable dispense only and provide immediate dispensing when UNLOCKed. NIGHTSWITCH disable is accomplished using the Service Interface in the Machine Type menu, selected from Settings. This option will be covered in a later slide. Directions can also be found on page 28 of the V-Café manual.
