Who plays what role? A number of stakeholders involved: – Teachers – Counsellors – Students – Other Service Providers Each has various contributions to make, but the career choice is solely the students’ choice The following roles are recommended and not prescribed Teachers Counsellors Student

Students What the students will learn through the activities Learning about yourself and work Learning about the world of work Labour Market Making Decisions Goal Setting and Pathways Counsellor and Teacher – transfer skillsStudent – independent learning Example: Goal Setting and Pathways To be built from the language learnt and the information from the class talks.

CD Student Worksheets Learning about yourself and work – activities include self-analysis of skills, interests, needs, life circumstances, life balance, aspirations, knowledge Learning about the world of work – activities include job analysis; labour market analysis - occupations, job requirements; training and education requirements; industry growth; employers. Making decisions – activities include reality testing, decision making and identifying obstacles; and may look at both available and unavailable options to support the making of realistic choices Goal setting and Pathway Planning – Activities include identifying options that are available now and in the future; writing a plan which includes the most realistic and achievable options; short and long term planning
