Chapter 27: Environment and Climate Change M O N T E N E G R O Negotiating Team for the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union Chapter 27: ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE Montenegro and EU - milestones Montenegro has signed Stabilisation and Association Agreement in 2007; The CANDIDATE COUNTRY STATUS to Montenegro was granted in December 2010; In June 2012 Montenegro entered into NEGOTITATION PROCESS with the EU.

Chapter 27: Environment and Climate Change M O N T E N E G R O Negotiating Team for the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union Chapter 27: ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE International agreements Montenegro is a party to all international agreements related to the Climate Change: Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, (2006) Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (2006), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (2007) and the Kyoto Protocol (2007).

Chapter 27: Environment and Climate Change M O N T E N E G R O Negotiating Team for the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union Chapter 27: ENVIRONMENT Competent authorities Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism has general competencies in the area of Climate Change Institution who also have important competencies in the area of climate change are:  Ministry of Economy,  Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs,  Ministry of the Interior,  Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,  Environment Protection Agency,  Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology. Chapter 27: Environment and Climate Change M O N T E N E G R O Negotiating Team for the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union Chapter 27: ENVIRONMENT State of play Chapter 27: ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE Montenegro has completed its initial National Communication to the UNFCCC in Currently, there is an ongoing work on the Second National Communication. First draft is planned for end of Ministry of Sustainable development and Tourism (MSDT) will coordinate development of National Strategy in the area of climate change during 2013/2014. Integration of climate change issues in all relevant sectoral policies in Montenegro. Provide and disseminate relevant information on climate changes to the public in Montenegro, on regular basis.
