Presentation transcript:

Getting to know me!  Summer flew by this year, and I’m sure the school year will do the same. With that said let me introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Blackwell and I will be working with your child in one of the following subjects this year; Home Ec., Future Cities or Health 8. In our room, students will have the opportunity to work as a team, make their own decisions, create their own experiences, and be independent thinkers. I will encourage all students to do their best as we learn about cooking, sewing, and life skills. We will be having lots of fun in all of my classes.

About Me!  I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I have lived in Overton all of my life. I received my Bachelor’s of Education Degree from the University of Las Vegas Nevada, and I received my Masters Degree in Middle School Math from Southern Utah University in I have a wonderful daughter named Alyssa. Alyssa is 18 years old, and she will be a senior this year at U.S.U (Utah State University). I love to read and spend time with my family and friends. I also love animals, especially dogs and frogs. I have two dogs, Jingles and Huckleberry, and two cats named, Kazamm and Gray. As well as a Bearded Dragon named Smaug. This is my fourteenth year at W. Mack Lyon Middle School. I am really excited to work with you and your child this year to make their experience here a successful one.

Students need to be ON TIME ! The tardy policy will be strictly enforced.

Organization is a must!

Notes will be kept in folders (Home Ec.) which will help kids to be more organized. There is not much homework in Home Ec., but when we do, homework is due at the beginning of class the day after it was assigned.

What if you are absent on a day notes or bell activities were taken????? Check out my website: blackwellsdomain.weebly.com All notes and assignments are posted to the website daily.

What if you are absent on a day we cooked in class? When absent on a day we cook in class you would have to cook the same recipe we cooked, at home. Once done you would write a paragraph about the experience. Then you would have your parents sign the paragraph with their own thoughts about the project underneath the paragraph.

If assignments are not turned in, students will have to cite and call home. After two cites, After mandatory after school help may be assigned. Late assignments need to be turned in by the next day, or serve detention after school.

Homework is due at the beginning of class each day. LATE WORK! Students will have 5 days to turn in late work for half credit. After 5 school days no credit will be given.

If extra help is needed, I will be in my classroom before school Monday-Friday from 6:30 until school starts. I will also stay after school on days that my students need extra help by request only.

Please contact me ANY TIME you (or your child) need assistance! or
