Investment Facility for the Pacific  Programme: 10 th EDF - Regional  Total allocation: €10 Million  Beneficiary Country: Fiji  Project background: The project is implemented by the EIB. The project will assist Fiji (FEA) carry out 2 key studies, mainly a T&D study and RE (hydro) feasibility study.  Area of Intervention: T&D network and grid connected hydro power  EU Contribution: €4.6 M

Support for Regional Investment projects  Programme: 11 th EDF – Regional  Project Cost: €20 Million (IFP) + €26 Million (ICPP)  Investment Facility for the Pacific (IFP) o Concept – combining EU grants with loans or equity from public and private financiers, thereby generating a leverage effect. o Types of operations to be financed: i. Direct investment grants, TA's, Interest rate subsidies, guarantees, etc.  Investment Co-Financing Programme for the Pacific (ICPP) o Concept – combining grants by any development partners, international finance institutions, private sector actors or PICs. 9 EuropeAid

Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) for the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL)  Programme: Neighbourhood, Latin America, Asia and ACP  Project Allocation: €8.6 Million  Period of implementation: 2015 – 2020  Project objectives;  Increase the partner countries’ administrative and technical capacity for sector policy analysis, its development and implementation  Accelerate sector reform policies on access to sustainable energy, energy efficiency and energy supplies, and  Facilitate the implementation of the investment projects needed to meet the overall SE4All objective of making modern energy services accessible to all.  Activities of the TAF;  Policy and reform, capacity building, investment projects planning support, mobilising funds and partnerships and industrial and technology cooperation. 12 EuropeAid

Electrification Financing Initiative (ElectriFI)  Programme: Global  Project Allocation: €75 Million  Period of implementation: Beginning 2016  Project background:  an innovative mechanism to unlock, accelerate and leverage investments increasing or improving access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy. Main target is the private sector. Details:  Project objectives:  achieve intensive mobilisation of the private sector  in the business of increasing or improving access to modern, affordable and sustainable energy services  for populations living principally in rural, underserved areas as well as areas affected by unreliable power supply  encourage more actions in the field of renewable energy in general with emphasis on decentralised sustainable energy solutions and  with potential to attract additional financing to ElectriFI clients. 13 EuropeAid

 Country: Tuvalu  Project background: The project is located in Tuvalu and aims at reducing the reliance on fossil fuels for electricity generation in the outer islands of Tuvalu (Nukulaelae, Nukufetau and Nui) by promoting the use of renewable energy resources  Area of Intervention: Solar photovoltaic and capacity building  Project Cost: €2,500,000  Achievements:  Grid-connected, battery-backed solar PV systems on the islands of Nukulaelae, Nukufetau and Nui.  Availability of electricity from the current 18h to 24h  120,000 litres or AUD 200,000/year in diesel savings  Expertise available locally to mentor local professionals and manage the implementation of the action  Local capacity developed to operate and maintain the installed systems. 14 Improving reliable access to modern energy services through solar PV systems for rural areas (outer islands) of Tuvalu EuropeAid

 Country: Vanuatu  Project background: The project is located in the Kawene area of Efate (also known as Devil's Point), where an EIB-funded wind farm is operational.  Area of Intervention: On-grid solar photovoltaic  Project Cost: €2,500,000  Key objectives:  1 MW solar PV farm (1,200 MWh/year)  1.5 km of MV network & 11 km of LV network design and construction  Awareness program to promote electrical energy savings  35% reduction on domestic small consumers bills using less than 60 kWh/month.  530 new connexions 15 Provision of affordable solar electricity to peri-urban Port Vila EuropeAid

Solar photovoltaic power generation capacity in outer islands in Cooks EuropeAid  Country: Cooks  Project background: The project is implemented by the ADB. The EU contribution will specifically focus in 4 outer islands, Mitiaro, Mauke, Mangaia and Atiu  Area of Intervention: Grid connected solar  EU Contribution: €5,300,000  Key objectives:  Installation of 0.9MWp of solar PV systems with advanced secondary battery storage systems.  Rehabilitation of distribution network

Hydropower project in Samoa EuropeAid  Country: Samoa  Project background: The project is implemented by the ADB. The EU contribution will assist with the increase in RE generation capacity of the country.  Area of Intervention: Grid connected hydro power  EU Contribution: €4,610,000  Key objectives:  Construction of new hydro power plant in Fuluaso, Uplou with a maximum capacity of 0.81MW
