Profile of the Department The Department was Established in 1965 Late Prof S.K. Agrawala a renewed Harvard scholar was its founder Head of the Department. The Department is the only one in the country Accredited by the Common Wealth of Nations. The Department has Semester Pattern since more than three decades and the First one In the Country to Introduce so. The Department Offers Post Graduate Course in Law., LL.M. and Ph.D., programmes. The Department is rated as one of the best Departments in the country and always in the top five in the country.

Faculty & Research At present there are Two Professors, Three Associate Professors and Two Assistant Professors besides a number of visiting and guest Faculty take part in the academic activities of the Department. The Faculty have completed a good number of research projects. Dr. Sastry, Prof & Head and Dr. D.A. Patel, Associate Professor are currently the fellows of the European Commission under the Erasmus Mundus Programme. The Faculty have 5 books and around 150 Research Papers to their credit in established Journals. It has conducted International, National Seminars and Conferences over the years. The Department has published a good Number of books.

Academic Programme In the LL.M. it always offers the contemporary areas of study such as Science, Technology, Biotechnology, IPR, Human Rights, International Economic Law, Corporate Law, besides the traditional areas of constitution, Research Methodology, Administrative Law, and Jurisprudence. From next academic year it is introducing Branch specialization with credit pattern in International Law and Corporate Law. It plans to start a LL.D. Programme

Student Related Activities The Department is the First in the Country to Start a Post Graduate Competition to train the PG students in Legal Drafting and pleadings. The Department has a good rich library and a number of online journals. It has round the clock internet facility for the students. It has a placement cell established recently to place the students in corporate and other legal circles. It imparts legislative drafting skills to students. Few of its students were select for internship by eminent organisations It promotes among the students to apply for internships with various international organisations.

Future Activities It plans to commence a peer reviewed Journal in the near future Apply for the UGC under the special Assistance Programme to cater to Research needs of the department. Enter Mou’s with various Indian and Foreign Universities Increase its Foreign Causal students apart from its regular foreign students. Start a National Law School integrating the Present Department Start a post Graduate Diploma's in Law and Medicine, ADR and IPR and to focus on Legal Counseling
