High school grading is different from Middle School!!! Which grades have the highest % ? Assessments (Test Grades) –Class work is to introduce students to new content and skills. –Homework is for students to practice what they have learned. –Tests (Assessments) – are for students to show mastery of what they have learned. Students will not pass the class by doing extra course work. Students MUST PASS their ASSESSMENTS (TESTS)…. Grading…

Are you organized? Good Study Habits begin with being prepared for class ( Tip#1 ) Where do you study every day? How do you study for “each” subject? Studying is not the same as doing homework!!! ( Tip #2 ) Get Tutoring help ASAP ( Tip #3 ) Take advantage of Instructional Focus each day (11:40a – 1:40p) Study Habits

Supports Personalized Learning Students rotate to a different class period each day. – The rotation is listed on the school’s website During this period, students may schedule to: – Meet with any of their teachers for additional support. – Study – Complete Homework – Work on class projects – Meet with the counselor Instructional Focus – 11:40a.m – 1:40pm

The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 19 9 th grade students may choose to take the exam. –This test is not mandatory for 9 th graders. $15.00 cash or money order Fall Testing

Ninth graders must earn a minimum of 5 credits at the end of the year to be promoted to 10 th grade. Students are scheduled for 6 classes (1.0 credit per class). –It is VERY IMPORTANT to check your infinite campus grade book portal often. This will help you to stay on top of your progress in each class. Students who are off track for grade level promotion will not be allowed to play sports. PROMOTION REQUIRMENTS

Option 1 – Request to meet with me during Instructional Focus. -Walk ins during lunch “Eat First”. Option 2 - Complete the “Request to see the Counselor slip” –Place the slip in “my box” out side my door and proceed to class. –I will try to meet with you that day or within 24 hours. Option 3 – me at: CRISIS situations will be handled immediately. If I am not available, students will meet with another counselor or the social worker.
