Freshmen Year Survival Guide This guide will teach you how to… Become a successful student Organize your life Navigate Hylton High School Not get yourself stuffed in a locker Keep it “hunnid” at all times (Results May Vary Based on User)

Ludacris is using C.D. Hylton’s website so he knows where to buy Homecoming Tickets. He keeps it 100. Step 1: Use Technology Be like Luda. For all your CD Hylton needs just visit…

Mastering School Fusion  School fusion allows you to: contact your teacher Track of assignments Find study resources Engage in online discussion  It’s like Facebook for your education…only it doesn’t have mirror selfies, cat videos, subtweets, your friend’s mixtape, Bieber music videos, or your aunt’s embarrassing vacation photos. Basically, it’s perfect!

Parent Portal: Your New Best Friend!  Parent portal allows you to: see what assignments have been entered into the grade book by your teacher see the grades you have earned and monitor your overall grade average see what assignments you owe due to absence(s) monitor your attendance record

Step 3: Stay Organized!

Keep Notebooks Ordered By Subject  Useful tips f or organizing your notebook: Keep all notes and handouts in order. Put the date at the top of all assignments Use three ring binders with dividers and page protectors Use highlighting or color coding to make important information “pop.” Write down important assignment due dates Label your notebook with your name and teacher’s name in case you misplace it

Keep Your Locker Neat! Because nobody is taking this kid to homecoming…

Is this how your work area looks at home?

Clean Desk, Full Brain, Can’t Lose  How To Study  DO keep your work area clean.  DO keep your work area distraction free.  DO study incrementally to avoid cramming.  DO bring home all necessary study materials.  DO give yourself breaks every minutes.  DO NOT get distracted sending ugly Snapchats.  DO NOT binge watch Netflix while studying.  DO NOT twerk before, during, or after studying. Or ever. Don’t be like “Bad Luck Brian.”

Step 4: Mange Your Time Wisely!

Procrastination: STOP DOING IT!

Step 5: Achieving Balance Balance is key, young people!  Now that you’ve reached High School your opportunities (and distractions) have multiplied.  Do not put all of your focus on one single thing; whether that be school, sports, or socializing.  Being well rounded is one of the first things college admissions offices look at.  It also keeps you fresh and excited about how you spend your time.  Put yourself out there and experience new things. Now is the time!
