G ENERAL I NFORMATION Discussion Question (DQ) Requirements APA format Answer all questions presented in the scenario Be active all week – no minimum requirement, but Kaplan will automatically drop you if you have not participated frequently – at least 75% of the time. Read DQ rubric for DQ expectations Questions?

W RITING R EQUIREMENTS Introduction – all papers unless otherwise noted must have an introduction. Conclusion – all papers unless otherwise noted must have an conclusion. Sections of The Paper – please review carefully the sections/parts that must be included in each assignment. Outlining these sections first before writing your paper works best so that you do not accidently omit a section.

W RITING R EQUIREMENTS ( CONT.) use only 1 or 2 quotes Limit Your Quotations – use only 1 or 2 quotes within a paper rather writing the information in your own words with a citation thereafter. Write in the 3 rd person Assume the reader doesn’t have any knowledge about the subject or assignment requirements.

G ENERAL I NFORMATION Grades Completed Grades are completed by Sunday night 11:59 pm PST. Any assignments that have not been turned by that time will be given a 0 until the assignment has been submitted and graded. Rubric – when completing an assignment, please review carefully the rubric for that assignment. You will be graded solely based on the rubric. Questions?

Professor directed and managed. Student directed Your thoughts? Wiki, Journals, etc. A place to discuss and comment on topics, concepts, videos, case studies, etc.

D ESIGN AND P RACTICE ( CONT.) Doc Sharing A way to share documents with the entire class. A good place to store course materials. Announcement Page/Section A place where class updates are posted, e.g., holidays, assignment due date reminders, college information, etc. Course Materials’ Section A place where course materials such as your syllabus are posted.

D ESIGN AND P RACTICE ( CONT.) Seminars (with or without a whiteboard) Synchronized online learning. More beneficial when everyone can hear and see each other. A vital method of connecting with online students. Some seminar programs allow for student presentations. Can add videos and PowerPoint presentations to seminar.

D ESIGN AND P RACTICE ( CONT.) Kahn Academy Mediated, online learning. Learn through tutorials and outcome based learning objectives. Western Governors University Outcome based learning. No seat time or specific duration of class time. No professors, but rather mentors. Work at your own pace.
