American Saddlebred

American Saddlebred Identification Origin-United States: Fayette Co. Kentucky Color-Bay,Brown,Chestnut,Gray,Black,or Golden Height Hands Types-Three-gaited and Five-gaited Uses- Three and five gaited (saddle), pleasure, stock, and harness.

Appaloosa

Appaloosa Identification Origin- United States; Oregon, Idaho, and Washington;first bred by Nez Perce Color-Various combinations of colors and spots,eyes encircled w/white,hooves are black and white striped Height hands Uses- Stock, pleasure, race, parade, hunters and jumpers

Origin - United States Color - Golden body with white, silver, or ivory mane and tail height to 16 hands weight ,300 lbs..

Pinto

Origin- United States; From horses brought in by Spanish Conquistadors. Color-Half colors or colors (bay, brown, or black) and have white spots ranging from 2 to 12 inches across Height hands Fact-Type not color determines if a horse is a Paint or Pinto or both Uses- Hunters, polo mounts, racing, saddle, and stock

Quarter Horse

Quarter Horse Identification  Origin- United States; Southwest ( Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and Kansas)  Color- Chestnut, sorrel, bay,dun, palomino, black, brown gray, and roan.  Height hands  Traits-well muscled, powerfully built, most versatile of all breeds.  Uses- Stock, racing, pleasure, hunters and jumpers

Standardbred

Origin - US color - bay, brown, chestnut, black, gray, roan, and dun height - 15 to 16 hands weight ,300 lbs.

Tennessee Walking Horse

Color - Sorrel, chestnut, roan, black, white, golden, gray, bay, and brown Height - 14 to 15 hands Weight - 1,000-1,200 lbs. Running walk is distinctive to this breed

Thoroughbred

Color - Bay, brown, chestnut, sorrel, black, and gray white markings on face and leg are common Height to 16-2 hands conformation emphasized factors contributing to racing and sports

Pony of America

Origin - US color - very similar to the Appaloosa height - minimum height of 46” and maximum height of 54” at withers weight lbs.

Shetland Pony

Origin - Shetland Isles color - black, brown, bay, chestnut, mouse, and spotted are most common weight lbs.. Used as child’s mount, harness, racing, roadster

Welsh Pony

Welsh Pony Identification  Origin- Wales  Color- Black, gray, bay, roan, cream, and chestnut.  Height- “A” Division-12.2 hands and under “B” Division- over 12.2 to not more than 14 hands  Uses- Child’s mount, harness racing, pleasure, parade,and hunting.

Belgian

Origin- Belgium Color- Bay, chestnut, and roan are most common, but there are some browns, grays, and blacks. Height hands Noted for- Docile and quiet temperament Uses-exhibition, special attractions and farm work

Origin - Scotland Color - bay and brown with white markings are most common superior style and action heavy feathering of feet

Percheron

Black or gray, occasionally bays, brown, chestnuts, and roans are seen average weight –male:1, lbs.. –Female: 1, lbs.. Extremely docile

Suffolk

Color - Chestnut varying from light to dark Height to 17 hands Excellent disposition confirmation is of stocky type

Mustang
