Independent Reading Lessons You must have a reading book in your school bag at all times. Your English teacher will tell you which day your reading lesson will be on. Additionally, once a week in form time, you will be reading your book independently. This will begin in the week beginning Monday 3 rd October.

Expectations You will be permitted to borrow two books from the library. You must return and select a new book at break-time, lunch-time or after school. If you think that you will finish reading your book within the reading lesson you must borrow an additional book before the lesson. Points and postcards will be awarded for pupils who are consistently well-equipped. If you do not have a reading book, your Reading Record Book and your book mark you will be given a C1 and a negative behaviour report.

Reading Record Book At the start of each independent reading lesson and literacy form time you will write: The date in full. The title of the book you are reading. The page number that you are on. At the end of each independent reading lesson and literacy form time you will write: The page number that you are now on. A list of three new words that you have read in a sentence.
