 Any treatment of the environment air within a building is air conditioning. Air cooling is any process that reduces air temperature. Refrigerated air is produced by a mechanical refrigeration cycle.  Examples: Air conditioning: fan that circulates air, filtering air, heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying. Air cooling: fan blowing, coolers, swamp coolers, open windows Refrigerated air: vapor compression, absorption cycles INTRODUCTION WHAT’S AIR- CONDITIONING ?

 Dramatic increase of air conditioning since the early 80ies  Cost of energy Issues related to environmental pollution Due to energy production Due to the use of CFC’s and HCFC’s  Matches demand with source availability Crucial for improving life standards in developing countries WHY SOLAR COOLING

 Air conditioning is one of the largest uses of electricity.  Electricity costs are on a medium-term upward trend driven by rising oil prices.  Solar air conditioning provides the solution and is the most efficient use of high temperature solar heat. WHAT’S SOLAR AIR- CONDITIONING ?

Thermal Solar Process for Air-Conditioning

 Absorption chillers are suitable for cooling large buildings, especially where requirements are above 300 kW.  SINGLE EFFECT CHILLERS – powered by hot water at around 100°C, with efficiency (COP) of 70%.  DOUBLE EFFECT CHILLERS – powered by steam at 8 bar at around 170°C with efficiency (COP) of135%. Absorption Chillers…

 To be effective, solar collectors must operate chillers with very little heat loss, so that they still operate efficiently when the sunlight is weak.  Only concentrating sunlight with mirrors can be efficient at the operating temperatures of chillers.  Collectors are the lowest cost and most robust way of concentrating sunlight with mirrors providing sufficient heat energy for absorption chillers. Powering chillers with solar…

SOLAR COLLECTORS…

HD16 Solar collector  POWERFUL  SMART  PRACTICAL  SAFE

IMPORTANCE OF SOLAR  Solar energy can be collected from any area; open land, rooftops or car parks.  A single 1,000 kW chiller will produce around 6,000 kWh of cooling per day.  The capital cost of this around €1m - €1.5m.  The electricity saving is around 500 MWh per year.  At €200/MWh, the payback is years.

Advantages  Cost effective  Live wherever you want  Reduce your carbon footprint  Low on maintenance

Conclusions  Thus, by using solar energy lot of electricity can be saved also we can successfully use the conventional energy as its free and make maximum utilization. And thus it will save our money too.
