DEVELOPING YOUR CAMPAIGN TEAM & REPORTING UNITS Presented by Alan Hay Associate Director

Objective-- Prepare Campaign Managers to: --Develop campaign team & provide training --Update reporting units --Be organized with pledge forms --Decide about effective messaging

3 Develop your campaign team Recruit “enthusiastic” employee helpers – Ask former successful keyworkers or get recommendations from successful keyworkers – Enlist genial employees who follow through on their responsibilities, are effective communicators, and have a connection with a CFC charity or who like to give back to their community – Make sure candidate’s supervisor is aware and supportive – If people are reluctant, remind them that you are asking them to serve because you think they are well- respected and excel at following through.

4 Develop your campaign team – Explain to them that being a Keyworker IS a fun job, they WILL BE a part of something that is substantially important, and this activity does enable them to meet new people. – Incorporate Millennials and every type of donor class. – Assure them that it will not take too much of their time. Provide excellent training – Coordinate training dates with your Associate Director as soon as possible after August 17 th – Be sure training space has ability to accommodate power point slides and videos and internet access

5 Develop your campaign team – Be sure presentation is ready to go as soon as starting time hits, get IT help early enough to set up – Train how to talk about CFC to co- workers – Teach about paperwork—how handle, order of flow – Teach how to Complete Pledge Form Carrier (FORM 100) – Encourage keyworkers to talk face- to-face with all assigned contacts

6 Develop your campaign team – Make Sure Enough Supplies Are Available for Each Keyworker’s Assigned Employees – Play the CFC Campaign Video – Include both experienced and new keyworkers—experienced people will help the new people – If a Keyworker Cannot Attend, Provide Him or Her with the Keyworker Guide – Keyworkers Can Find Tips, Videos, and Added Training at cfcnca.org

7 Update reporting units for accuracy – Know and report to Loaned Executive the FTEs by unit – Add or eliminate units where needed – Develop strategy to get every employee FTE “asked to give” – Absolute deadline is 9/30/2016

8 Be organized with paper pledges – Learn the detail for how to fill out the form correctly – Remember the Eagle & Double Eagle Pins designation – If Nexus agency, who’s taking care of the yellow forms – Determine the best and 2 nd best credit union turn-in locations – Schedule regular help sessions to help staffers fill out the pledge form correctly – Determine finance/payroll person who gets the yellow forms and downloads payroll detail at end of campaign

9 Decide about effective messaging – Organize communications by floor or reporting unit – Identify best communications leaders – Schedule communication agency wide from agency leader, campaign chair, etc. – Conduct regular CFC meetings weekly, monthly?

10 Schedule events – Use charity help and schedule their appearances in NEXUS – Review history for the best events to replicate or build upon – Utilize the strongest event ideas, especially those with a “champion”—someone who wants the idea to succeed – Hold “Great Events” that are well organized and capture imagination or are memorable well beyond the day of the event itself

11 Leverage your loaned executive – Schedule keyworker training for best results – Work with your AD and LE to schedule keyworker training NOW, if at all possible – Get help with goal setting for each unit, total agency and FTEs – Regularly connect with your LE about anything and everything – The “Campaign Leadership Guide” will be available August 15 th
