SexED The Sex Education App “There’s an app for that!” Najmia Barack, CAS 360 Media Literacy Project

How It’ll Work The premise of the app is to help educate children and adolescents about sex.

Is that Appropriate? Parents can control their children’s access to the app.

Attitudes Psychology Today advises parents to speak honestly with their children about their questions. The best thing to do is to calmly speak with your child and to not shut down any questions they ask that make you feel uncomfortable. Plus, you could always research together using your preapproved resources.

Use the App with Children Spring up the conversation about sex through talking about kids of the importance of good hygiene.

Adolescents will have access to the entire app. The male reproductive organs.

The Female Reproductive Organs

Teen Pregnancy One of the consequences of having unprotected sex is becoming pregnant; teens, when educated, will make the decision that is right for them. They won’t have to miss out on prom because they can’t afford a babysitter.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Infections Although sex has its benefits, if not practiced safely, it can have life-altering consequences.

I don’t Want to Encourage Sexual Activity Many parents believe that when they talk to their teens about sex, that they are encouraging them. However, research has shown over and over again that the more informed teens are, the more likely it is for them to make better decisions.

The SexEd App Will… Make it easier for parents to discuss sex with their children. Teens can refer to it when they have questions. Children can learn about their body. Everyone is happy!
