There are different ways in which Beggar’s chicken can be cooked. The choice of ingredients is the key factor that matters. You need 3 pounds of fryer chicken, 4tbsp oil, 1 finely chopped scallion, 4 ounces of shredded pork, 1tsp ginger paste, 1tbsp each of soy sauce and sherry, 1tsp sugar, 2 ounces of Chinese cabbage, and a large piece of aluminum foil to prepare this dish. You should first clean the chicken and apply salt on it. You should then apply the ginger paste inside the chicken and set it aside. You should now take a wok, heat oil and stir-fry the chopped scallion.

Now add the pork and increase the heat. Now add the sugar, soy sauce, and sherry and stir the ingredients for few minutes. Transfer the contents to a bowl now and keep it aside. Now heat the wok with 2 more tbsp oil and stir-fry the Chinese cabbage. You should now the contents in the bowl and stir-fry for another minute. You should now stuff this mixture of meat and other ingredients into the chicken. Wrap the chicken in aluminum foil and place in a pan. Now preheat your oven to 350 degrees and then bake the chicken for an hour. After an hour, turn the heat to 400 degrees and bake for an extra fifteen minutes. You can now remove the foil, cut the chicken into small pieces, and serve. When you order this dish at the best bars in Singapore, you might get it wrapped in a leaf instead of the aluminum foil.
