Interview Preparation Analysis Project 4 Fall 2004

Overview  Self-assessment project  Four options-they do only one  Recommended for non-business majors-but anyone can do it  Helps preparation for interviews

Option A: Skill Identification  Use figure 2.9, page 41  Rank top 12 skills  Select 4 from that list  Write 1 page for each-4 pages total –How skill was acquired –How person assessed competence level –How skill was developed

Option A Deliverables  Skills inventory  Top 12 skills ranked  Commentary on 4 of those skills-one page each  Results of any self-assessment tests taken (not required to take but helpful to provide material to talk about)

Option B: Values Clarification  Use figure 2.10, page 32  Regroup each value into 4 lists  Write 1 page on each list –Note similarities in lists –Discuss ideal work setting –Explain importance of chosen values –Explain each value’s impact on career decisions

Option B Deliverables  Completed work values chart  4 pages of value lists commentary

Option C: Interest Inventory  Take either Merkler or Humanmetrics web tests  Use figure 2.16, page 68  Write 3-4 page analysis of test results

Option D: Personal Descriptors  Use figure 2.12, page 55  Rate those descriptors 1-4  Group on another page all “1’s”  Group on another page all “2’s”  Write 3-4 personal stories (3 pages) illustrating these qualities
