Presentation transcript:

David Serwadda Makerere University School of Public Health Department of disease control and environmental Health

 MDG are currently implemented as independent outcomes yet the process of achieving then is interrelated  Silo implementation of MDG without a systematic coordinated country platform of implementation  Failure to take into account the population growth and the impact on environment and other MDG

 Water and sanitation ministry impact on MD7 which impact on MDG, MDG 4, 5, 6 9 ( Ministry of Health)  Ministry of Health and Ministry of Water and sanitation are working in silo with a coordinated implementing strategy

- Africa is experiencing a rapid population growth. i.e. Uganda's fertility rate is seven children per woman.

 A country framework that builds, add and supplement each MDG goal in a coordinated manner is need  Population growth in Africa is a driver that affects the environment directly and other MDG that needs to be compressively addressed
