ROADWAY DESIGN/ PARKING STANDARDS Current Authority Subdivision Regulations, Chapter 34, Article V − Roadway Design Standards Roadway Width Generally tied to anticipated use and traffic volumes – Local roads (low volume) - Minimum 18' pavement width – Local roads (moderate volume) - Minimum 20' pavement width – Collector Roads (moderate volume) - Minimum 22' pavement width – Arterial Roads (high volume) - Minimum 24' pavement width
ROADWAY DESIGN/ PARKING STANDARDS On-Street Parking Concerns Emergency Vehicle Access Needs – 20' Clear Path (2-way streets) – 17' Clear Path (1-way streets) Multiple vehicles using subdivision streets for parking block right-of-way

ROADWAY DESIGN/ PARKING STANDARDS Convened small committee of private development professionals and County staff to address concerns –Private sector - 5 participants –County staff - 6 participants (including Planning, Zoning, Fire & Rescue, and Development Engineering Divisions.)
ROADWAY DESIGN/ PARKING STANDARDS Committee prepared a Report with proposed Typical Sections – Allows for 20-foot emergency vehicle path (2-way traffic) – Allows for 17-foot emergency vehicle path (1-way traffic) – Allows for use of gutter to meet parking/travel lane requirements (low volume streets)

PLATTING REQUIREMENTS Current Authority Subdivision Regulations Chapter 34, Article IV – Platting Requirements Planning and Development, Chapter 30, Article III – Land Development and Use Ordinance Planning And Development, Chapter 30, Article IV – Subdivisions and Plats
PLATTING REQUIREMENTS Platting Issues County Code has 3 separate Articles describing the requirements for platting. Inconsistencies occur within Article II Chapter 30 and Article IV Chapter 34. The proposed amendment will update County Code and address the inconsistencies.

GATED COMMUNITY REGULATIONS Current Authority Subdivision Regulations, Chapter 34, Article VIII – Gated Communities Background Previous BCC Work Sessions held October 30, 2007 and April 29, 2008 – Discussed gated community issues, the existing ordinance and proposed ordinance changes
GATED COMMUNITY REGULATIONS Background (continued) Proposed Ordinance Amendments – Recognize desire for interconnectivity – Identify appropriate and prohibited locations for Gated Communities – Provide prohibition on mixing public and private stormwater systems – Provide additional disclosures statements for all property sales and for storm debris responsibilities – Provide financial requirements that establish a storm debris account and the developer responsibility to the fund five required accounts
