Where do we go from here? As I Mean To Go On John c8 v1-11

Where do we go from here? What will motivate me to keep learning and growing?

Knowledge of God relationships discipleship faith passion & desire

Teaching / learning important so we become more Christ-like Where do we go from here? What will motivate me to keep learning and growing? v1-2 - Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives, 2but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them. (NLT) Teaching / learning important so we become more Christ-like

Where do we go from here? How will we respond to those trapped in sin? v3 – As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and Pharisees brought a woman they had caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. (NLT) Rom c5 v8 – God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (NLT)

Where do we go from here? How will we answer the difficult question? v4-5 – “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. 5The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” (NLT)

Where do we go from here? Will we remember our own history? v6-8 - They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. 7They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, stone her. But let those who have never sinned throw the first stones!” 8Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. (NLT)

Where do we go from here? Will we remember our own history? Rom c3 v21-24 – But now God has shown us a different way of being right in his sight—not by obeying the law but by the way promised in the Scriptures long ago. 22We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done. 23For all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24Yet now God in his gracious kindness declares us not guilty. He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins. (NLT)

Where do we go from here? We must present hope v9-11a – When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. 10Then Jesus stood up again and said to her, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” 11“No, Lord,” she said. (NLT)

Where do we go from here? Will we walk in the freedom of Christ? v11b – And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” (NLT) - Jesus DOES NOT condemn her - Jesus says ‘GO’ - Jesus says ‘stop doing this thing’ This woman was brought to Jesus to die and she walked away to live!
