Presentation transcript:

 My magazine will typically be aimed at a young, teenage girl or boy interested in pop/rap/chart music as this is a wide market and one that regularly buys magazines either monthly themselves or through subscription. I have also chosen them as a target audience as it will be easy to relate to myself. However, I will try not to limit sales and make it as universal, for all ages, as possible.

 To attract my target audience I looked closely at what was already being sold to them and closely related this to my own product.

 On my front cover I used a young model to relate to my market. He is wearing clothes that are currently popular and that are related to the rap/pop/chart music scene.

 The colours used on my front page are very plain but with the bold red and blue from the models shirt. I used these colours because they are not overpowering and cause the bright red to attract the readers attention.  The little square in the corner of the title is not only boldly blue (similar to the models shirt), but as it is separate will highlight the main feature of the issue. This is something that will attract my target audience as it is a reason for them to buy the magzine.

 The words highlighted on this page are ‘Free’ in bold, and the artists names. This is because I know that getting something free is especially important to my target audience as they stereotypically have no money and teenagers buy magazines when they know their favourite artists are being featured.

 The title of the contents page and headings are in bold and so will draw the readers eye to it. Similarly, the picture is big too, again attracting the readers eye.  These headings make the contents easy to use so the reader can find articles quickly. This is particularly good for my target audience as they are typically known for being ‘lazy’ so having a contents that is quick and simple to use would definitely attract them.

 Similar to my front page, competitions is under its own heading as young students are known for having little money so a competition would attract them.  My contents page is attractive to my target audience as it is again very simplistic and easy to read as well as professional looking.

 My double page spread attracts my target audience as it is simply written in question and answer form (again making it quicker to read for the supposedly ‘lazy’ teenagers) with the questions easily distinguished from the answer as they are in orange.  The model is again young and wearing clothes that are currently popular.

 Lastly, important words are in bold and quotations are floating within the article so will attract a reader flicking through. Similarly, other popular singers names are mentioned to attract more readers.
