Presentation transcript:

When data and information has been collected, system analyst use the information to build a notation call Data flow Diagram (DFD) to picture the flow of data in information system DFD is use to show logical representation of one system. It is also known as structured analysis technique.

DFD is design using 4 main notation defining different visual representations for processes, data stores, data flow, and external entities.

 Process receive input and produce output  Process is label use verb (kata kerja)  Process is label using number (to show level of process)

1.1 Enter User’s Profile 1.2 Generate weekly report 1.3 Check applicants criteria Correct DFD 1.1 User’s Profile 1.2 Weekly report 1.3 Applicants criteria Wrong DFD

 Route to transfer data from one location to another location in information system  Can represent one or more data  Data flow is label use Noun (kata nama)  At least one data flow must enter the process and exit from the process  Miracle process– out without in flow  Black hole – in without out flow  Grey hole - aliran input yang minima (minimum input) menghasilkan output dari proses

1.1 Enter payment record 1.2 Check applicants criteria 1.3 Calculate CGPA Payment amount Payment record Application form Qualified applicants Unqualified applicants Kredit hour CGPA Average point

1.1 Calculate Gred 1.2 Check applicants criteria 1.3 Calculate CGPA CGPA Status Application form Qualified certificate Gred CGPA

 Data store picture the location of where data being store  Data store is also label use Noun (kata nama)  It is compulsory to connect at least to one process and must have one “in” data flow and one “out” data flow

 Represent human, object, concept, place or event to receive data or output from a system  Entity must relate to process  Source : send/bring/travel data to a system  Sink : receive data from a system

1.1 Enter Customer’s Profile 1.2 Print Examination Slip 1.3 Validate Order Customer Customer’s Profile Students Examination’s Slip Customer Order Form Invoice

 Highest level of DVD  Show the limit and scope of a system  It is the first diagram to be draw when building DFD’s
