ODE Programs Parent Project Health Ambassador Program Adult & Youth Mental Health First Aid Health Equity Initiatives Be the One Campaign Storytelling Series Lived Experience Academy – WET Cultural Humility and Language Access Internship Program

The Parent Project ® A national award-winning and evidence based curriculum designed for parents/caregivers with adolescents who display challenging behaviors Free, 3 hrs/week for 12 weeks, offered in English and Spanish Since 2010, in San Mateo County, 500 parents— representing more than 1500 children— have graduated.

I am a single parent of two teenagers. When I thought my children’s lives were at risk, I felt lonely with no answers to all the problems in our lives. I took the parent project class when my children were struggling, and I finally found hope. This class will help parents have a better relationship with their children, and help them succeed. – Yolanda R.

I am a mother of three kids and the classes I took have given me a lot of information and have helped me with my 9-year old son. I wanted to educate myself and learn how to better talk with my son and I have achieved that. I am now a more confident, strong, positive and well educated person about mental health and stigma. As a result, I have also learned how to better talk with my family about mental health and also educate and inform them. – Cynthia.

The Impact 196 courses completed by 122 parents 23 parents have graduated as ambassadors Health Ambassadors have: Obtained gainful employment with the County and other community agencies Become Parent Project® facilitators, MHFA instructors, NAMI Family to Family facilitators Volunteered to support the classes, forums, events and are involved in ODE Health Equity Initiatives

Engaging diverse communities Outreach and courses offered in the community (at schools, churches, etc.) Facilitators are from the community Graduates wanted opportunities to get engaged Support programs, events, tabling for a stipend Clients are the face of our materials
