Preparing Worship with Prayer

Greeting : A city on a hill cannot be hidden. We are the light of theworld. Matthew 5:14

Welcome

Call to worship Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God. God’s love was revealed among us in this way, Jesus Christ came into the world. Since God loved us so much, we are called to love one another. Come, let us worship. I John 4:7ff

Openning Prayer

(Following Aboriginal tradition, praying in The Directions)  facing east From the East, the direction of the rising sun, we receive peace and light and wisdom and knowledge. We are grateful for these gifts, O God.

 facing south From the South comes warmth, guidance, and the beginning and the end of life. We are grateful for these gifts, O God.

 facing west From the West comes the rain, purifying waters, to sustain all living things. We are grateful for these gifts, O God.

 facing north From the North comes the cold and mighty wind, the white snows, giving us strength and endurance. We are grateful for these gifts, O God.

 facing upward From the heavens we receive darkness and light, the air of your breath, and messages from your winged creatures. We are grateful for these gifts, O God.

 facing downward From the earth we come and the earth we will return. We are grateful for these gifts, O God.

May we walk good paths, living on this earth as brothers and sisters should; rejoicing in one another’s blessing, sympathizing in one another’s sorrows, and together with you, renewing the face of the earth.

Worship Words: Get up and pray for help all through the night. Pour out your feelings to the Lord, as you would pour water out of a jug.

Song

Santo, Santo (Argentina) Holy, holy, holy My heart, My heart adores you! My heart is glad to say the words: You are holy, Lord.

1. Santo, santo, santo Mi co-ra-zón tea do-ra ! Mi co-ra-zón te sa-be de-cir: Santo e-res, Seňor.

Prayer of Confession

Sometimes, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. But Jesus said, “My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Let us bring to God in prayer our burden of sin and our yoke of guilt, confident and trusting in the Spirit of grace.

Loving God, We are your creation. You have created us for good. But sometimes, in this world, we suffer evil. Why do some people die unjustly? Why are innocent children sometimes hurt? Why to people suffer when they have done nothing wrong? Why do landmines continue to kill and make people lame. Why do wars keep threatening us?

Sometimes we cannot understand your world. Sometimes we cannot understand you. This prayer we pour out to you like water from our hearts, In Jesus name who is still our friend… (Silence)

God the Creator Brings you new life, Forgives and redeems you. Take hold of this Forgiveness, and Live your life in the spirit of Jesus. Amen

The Word is Spoken Scripture Lamentations2:19-22 김 범 중

Scripture Lamentations 2:19-22 daughters of Zion grieve and challenge God 19 Get up and pray for help all through the night. Pour out your feelings to the Lord, as you would pour water out of a jug. Beg him to save your people, who are starving to death at every street crossing. 20 Think about it, LORD! Have you ever been this cruel to anyone before? Is it right for mothers to eat their children, or for priests and prophets to be killed in your temple?

21 My people, both young and old, lie dead in the streets. Because you were angry, my young men and women were brutally slaughtered. 22 When you were angry, LORD, you invited my enemies like guests for a party. No one survived that day; enemies killed y children, my own little ones.
