Key achievements to date and in

Key achievements to date 4 Continuous monitoring of BridgeStation Dashboard to monitor the health of asset information. Improvement in data has been noticed Produced Bridge Condition Indicator (BCI) Report utilising the improved inspection data to calculate the BCI and monitor performance trends over time; Improvement in data completeness have been seen as a result of efforts to date. Dashboard screenshots

Key achievements to date 5 Created the BCI flowchart to demonstrate the functionality of BridgeStation and scope of LoBEG’s work; Implemented Consistent Element Inventories (CEI) to ensure that the data is captured in a consistent manner; Published a Good Practice Guide on creating consistent inventory data in BridgeStation; Annual BCI reporting shows the state of the structure stock for the whole of LoBEG and for individual Boroughs. Embraced London Highway Alliance Contract (LoHAC) where better value is achieved over existing arrangements.

Key achievements to date 6 Implemented the Structures Asset Management Planning Toolkit. The toolkit also incorporates: Lifecycle planning Asset valuation Maintenance prioritisation The Value for Money Prioritisation process takes existing asset information to assist in identifying appropriate maintenance activities for the structure stock Structures Asset Management Planning Toolkit (CIPFA compliance) Lifecycle Planning Works Prioritisation Asset Valuation (GRC, DRC)

All good practice guidance and/or technical advice documents have been made available to all boroughs and can be downloaded from Delivered Beginner’s level training for new users of BridgeStation and delivered separate training for advanced modules – VfM, SAMPt and report builder. BridgeStation User Group sessions (every 6 months) continue to seek feedback from BridgeStation users to continuously improve BridgeStation functionality Key achievements to date

8 BridgeStation enhancements: Completed coding VfM and SAMPT into BridgeStation Implemented inspection sign-off process Inspection programme reports Ad hoc report builder Creation of default datafields Key achievements in Published documents: The first State of the City report was produced, detailing the condition of the structure stock in each of the Boroughs; Published the Data Audit and Gap Analysis report, which looked at the data held within BridgeStation

Overview of BCI Project progress 9

BCI Project Overview – Progress to Date Collates and reports on BPRN structure stock Been in place since 2003 Develops management tools and processes to enable bridge managers to make best use of the data collected Two phases completed so far:  Phase 1: 2003/04 to 2008/09  Phase 2: 2009/10 to 2014/15 Third phase commences this year. 10

BCI Project – inspection data Phase 1Phase 2Total Principal Inspection General Inspection Total Note: Phase 1: 2003/04 to 2008/09 Phase 2: 2009/10 to 2014/15

BCI Condition Data BCI data has been collected since 2003/04; Condition stabilised during Phase 2 for BPRN Structures Increase in number of structures scoring ‘Very Good’ and ‘Good’ since 2012/13; Better data leads to better decision-making 12

BCI Condition Data Using BCI data to drive the Value for Money module will result in improvements in decision making; Improved decision making will result in the right maintenance interventions, on the right structure, at the right time; Targeted maintenance interventions will result in an improvement to structure stock condition; This will result in a continuation of the number of structures going from ‘Fair’ to ‘Good’ to ‘Very Good’ increasing. 13

Plans for 2015/16 Focussing on the four areas in the previous slide will allow us to:  Look at increasing data quality, not just data quantity;  Improve the User Interface with BridgeStation to make it easier to collect data;  Improve data quality through Bridge Inspector Training  Improve decision making through tools such as VfM, SAMPT Our emphasis is now on improving data quality following the efforts to increase the data quantity held in BridgeStation. These plans will help achieve that goal. 16

Plans for beyond
