Presentation transcript:

Conduct Personal Business Before Class Begins Do not ask to go to another class to visit another student. Get needed materials from your locker before class starts. Do not ask to go to the gym. Do not ask to go to the counselor’s office. You must make an appointment between classes. Do not ask to go to the vending machines.

Respect The Rights of Others & Expect the Same Do not interrupt me when I am speaking. I’ll return the favor. Do not cause a disturbance. Do not cause a distraction. Do not make inappropriate comments or threats.

Respect the Property of Others Damage to books, computers, equipment, or materials must be paid for. They are expensive. Do not write on the desks. Do not place gum on or under desks, chairs, and lab tables.

Prepare for Class Daily Refer to your guidelines/checklists. Bring notebook(s), pen, pencil, paper, calculator, and text to class each day. Late work requires one late work pass per assignment. Remaining passes convert to bonus points. No one assignment is ever turned in for a group grade.

Do Not Be Tardy to Class You are tardy when not in the room prior to the bell ringing. You should be seated at this time. When tardy for any reason, a blue admittance slip must be presented.

Stay in Class You may leave class to go to the restroom after presenting a bathroom pass or signing the roster. Remaining bathroom passes convert to bonus points. Return to class in a timely manner. Use the restrooms on this hall and do not wander. Do not ask to leave class for any other reason. We’ll deal with emergencies as they arise.

Sit Up and Do Not Sleep If your head is down on your desk, I’ll consider you to be asleep. If you are sick, tell me. Repeated occurrences will lead to a parent conference or an office referral.

Adhere to the Dress Code Do not bring or wear a hat into the classroom. Only fully-patched holes are allowed. Tuck in shirts. Pants legs must be on outside of boots. Piercings as described in the handbook. No excessively tight clothing. Let me see your eyes.

Cell Phones Turn off or silence phones during class. Do not use bathroom trips as texting or phone time. One warning before collection.

Follow Lab Instructions Lab instructions are for your safety. Read them and listen to my oral instructions. Following instructions prevents you from repeating a lab in order to get the desired results. Those misbehaving during lab will be sent to the office and earn zeroes for work missed.

Keep Your Work Area Clean Dispose of trash around your desk. Do not place trash in the sinks or drawers. Do not leave lab equipment out unless directed to do so. Do not leave spilled chemicals on or around the balances.

End-of-Course Test/ Final Exams No EOCT in any Chemistry course. Chemistry has a cumulative final exam. The final exam counts as 15% of the course average. Exemptions are available to all who qualify.

Classroom Operating Procedures Write in only blue or black ink. Do not write on any handout unless allowed to do so. Staple papers before turning them into the red box in the rear of the room.

Classroom Operating Procedures Never staple lab instruction sheets to other papers you turn in. Never staple together two or more different assignments. Never complete two different assignments on the same paper.

Classroom Operating Procedures Write your name and the name of group members on work turned in. Circle or underline your name. We never produce group assignments. Each student does all work. Date all work.

Classroom Operating Procedures You may bring drinks or bottle water in screw-top containers. No other containers will be allowed. Eating during class is OK as long as the room remains clean and distraction free. Never eat or drink during a lab.

Discipline Plan To begin, I’ll speak to you. Next, I’ll speak to your parents. Then, I’ll refer you to the office. Serious infractions result in immediate office referrals.
