What is ADHD? Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or commonly known as ADHD is a very common neurodevelopmental condition. History of ADHD ADHD was first found by Sir George Still in 1902, and its diagnosis and treatment has remained controversial. Its recognition of being a “Mental disorder” was not classified until But, the term “ADHD” was not used by professionals until 1987, when the APA changed the name from “ADD”. Source:

Signs and symptoms of ADHD Some possible causes of ADHD are: Brain injury, environmental exposures, alcohol usage during pregnancy, and/or premature birth. Some symptoms of ADHD are fidgeting, having trouble focusing, and day dreaming. Approximately 10% of children are diagnosed with ADHD, and with about 50% of the cases last through adulthood. Source:

Diagnosis of ADHD Diagnosis of ADHD is often done by Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Pediatricians or Family Physicians. Usually done by behavioral or developmental assessments, it should be done if the parent suspects their child of ADHD. Treatment of ADHD Treatment is done by therapies and medication, but it varies between each child. Depending on a variety of factors, the condition can either stop at adulthood or continue throughout it.
