What does LSNJ do? Provides free civil legal services to indigent clients ▫Housing, Family Law, Health Care, Government Services, Employment, Consumer, Immigration, Education, Tax, Disability, Veterans, Civil Rights State-wide coordinating entity for legal aid organizations based in counties ▫Works with 6 regional programs Policy work, special representation projects

Internship Components Legal Assistance to Medical Patients Project ▫Completed intakes for patients referred from hospital; assisted with client communication and interpretation for Spanish speakers; conducted legal research on guardianship issues Immigration Representation Project ▫Prepared applications for two U-visa applicants Family Law ▫Assisted in planning Family Reunification Day, for families that previously had children in the foster care system

Personal Growth Through day-to-day work and attending trainings, I learned about many different areas of law Felt that I made a difference in my community Exposed me to an “alternative” career path to law firms Provided me with further opportunities- I will continue to intern at LSNJ during the fall semester
