BUOYANCY How Buoyancy Works in a Liquid
Greek mathematician and physicts. He was born in the town of Syracuse, on the island of Sicily, in about 287 BC.
Hiero II, the ruler of Syracuse, had a fantastic crown of gold made for him-self.
" Any object wholly or partially immersed in a liquid, experiences an up-thrust equal to the weight of liquid displaced". The object’s volume determines the amount of liquid displaced and water density determines the buoyant force (up-thrust ). Archimedes Principal
Buoyancy The upward force on an object produced by the surrounding liquid or gas (fluid) in which it is fully or partially immersed, due to the pressure difference of the fluid between the top and bottom of the object. The net upward buoyancy force is equal to the magnitude of the weight of fluid displaced by the body. This force enables the object to float or at least seem lighter.
Buoyancy If the object's mass is greater than the mass of liquid displaced, the object will sink. If the object's mass is less than the mass of liquid displaced, the object will float.
