Presentation transcript:

Clean hands before touching face, eyes and mouth No eating or drinking in lab Listen and follow all teacher’s directions Wear safety goggles, gloves, aprons, pull back long hair Make sure lab area is kept clean Tell teacher if hurt, spill or break something No running/playing around in lab

Thermometer: used to measure the temperature of object or substance Pan balance: use to measure the mass of an object Metric ruler: used to measure the length of an object

Graduated cylinder: used to measure the volume of a liquid Hand lens: used to enlarge the image of an object Beaker: used to estimate the amount of liquid and best used to mix or stir substances

Stopwatch: used to measure time Spring scale: used to measure the mass of an object or force Microscope: used to look at very very small objects that can not be seen by one’s eye Telescope: used to see objects that are very far out in space

Question: What do I want to find out? Hypothesis: What do I think will happen? Experiment: materials and procedures Data: What are your results? Conclusion: Was my hypothesis correct. What was the answer to my question? What have I learned from the results of my experiment.

Observation: What one can see Color Height Sink or float

Benefits: Easy to see and study Can see parts of animal or object etc. Can use different colors (maps) to help show different land features Limitations: Cannot see how animal behaved or interacted in it environment Models are not to size
