Chelan County Juvenile Detention Center Offered Services z24-hour Crisis Counseling Referral – Custody staff refer to Catholic Family & Child Services when youth are in crisis or at risk for self harm. A Designated Mental Health Professional (DMHP) comes to the facility to evaluate youth for possible commitment. A mental health counselor is provided for youth in crisis. zSuicide Risk Assessment and Prevention – All residents are administered the Mental Health Juvenile Detention Admission Tool (MH-JDAT) during book-in. Those who show signs of self harm are placed on a suicide level system. Staff provide 24- hour in-person supervision for Level 1 youth, those at high risk for suicide. zBehavior Modification – An incentivized formal point system is used to reward appropriate behavior and correct behavior problems. Youth exhibiting specialized behavior needs are assessed for suitability of specialized programming placement. zSafety and Security Focus - Keeping residents safe and secure is our highest priority. Strip and frisk searches are performed according to applicable RCWs and agency policy. Extensive daily logging and incident reports are kept. zSchool Notification - School districts are notified when students are detained and released, to address attendance requirements.
