LAAM stands for Light Activated AntiMicrobials LaamScience, Inc.

The patented LAAM technology is based on unique chemistry covalently bonded to surfaces and that produces singlet oxygen when exposed to light. Singlet oxygen is the active agent that physically inactivates viruses and kills bacteria. Light intensity and exposure time determine product performance. 2

The main component of the proprietary chemistry is Rose Bengal. When exposed to light it creates singlet oxygen and inactivates viruses and bacteria. The inactivation is non-specific for individual microorganisms. Singlet oxygen has a very short lifetime and therefore poses no risk to the environment. 3

LAAM chemistry is applied to fabrics such as polyamide, polyester and cotton. The finished product is non-leaching. 4

Experts who have reviewed our technology conclude that it will Be effective on all types of viruses (enveloped / non - enveloped, DNA / RNA) and bacteria Not require recognition of a specific protein or nucleic acid structure (unlike vaccines and pharmaceuticals) Not lose effectiveness as a bacterium or virus undergoes genetic drift Product Concept 6
