Do Now  What do you think is the difference between Social Studies and History?  Take 2 minutes to write some thoughts on the differences

The Difference  Social Studies: aspects of branches of the study of human history  Studying societies, how people/races/tribes lived  What drove them to fight, what brought them together  History: Study of the past events, particularly in human affairs  FACTS: Who won wars, what battles took place, etc.  *History tells you what happened, social studies shows you the effect it had on people *

Why are only certain people studied?  Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant  Michelangelo, Picasso, Van Gogh  Michael Phelps, Simone Biles  Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh

How to get Remembered in History  Do something historic  Change the way something is being done  Shape the future of a certain idea/practice  What is something you can change/do to be remembered?

Adapting to the Environment Colder Areas  Shelter: igloos  Food: Caribou, sea mammals Warmer Areas  Shelter: huts, tents  Food: Deer, bears, fish, crops
