Performance Task Participate in a Group Discussion

Background This collection explores traditional roles of men and women as well as changes in gender roles that have occurred in recent decades. Look back at the texts and think about how gender roles have evolved over time, what individuals are doing to combat gender roles, and how gender roles may change in the next 10 years.

To prepare for the seminar Prepare 3 meaningful questions to ask of your classmates, such as “How do you foresee gender roles changing in the next ten years?” Assemble at least 5 gender roles relevant quotes from texts/FYI’s you have read as part of this class. These quotes do not have to be related to your question but should help you meaningfully participate answering others’ questions with textual evidence.

Please Note You will be graded on both your preparation for the seminar (to be checked off before we begin) and your participation in the discussion Not everyone will have an opportunity to ask their question, but everyone will have an opportunity to speak You will be expected to remain respectful to others during the conversation, even if you disagree

During the Seminar You will be split in half. One group will be discussing, the other observing. During observations, you will be expected to take notes quietly. During discussions, you will be expected to contribute at least 1 idea to the discussion Groups will switch places so everyone has an opportunity for both roles
