Chapman Parking Challenges  Opt out of parking instead of opt in  Two-week opt out window  Low participation in alternative transportation incentives  Low parking scores on student surveys  Faculty and staff complaints  Fighting against a culture that does not walk

What are we doing?  Ride Share incentives  Carpool permit  $175/year and must carpool 3 days/yr)  Metrolink Reimbursement :  $50 subsidy  First 60 people who reserve passes)  OCTA Bus Pass : $69 Staff/Faculty  Capped at 28 users a month  Bike Vouchers  Parking App  Shuttles  ZipCar  ZimRide

What is the transportation reality?  200+ spaces available at our busiest parking time  Average space turnover rate is 3 to 4 times a day  Walking from our “farthest” parking lot is the same distance as walking from the last space in the parking lot on campus  Shuttles are lightly used  More than enough bike Parking on campus but it isn’t located in ideal locations  Little to no marketing or education re: RideShare Incentives  320+ Faculty and Staff members live within 2 miles of campus and overwhelmingly they still drive to campus

What does our reality tell us?  We aren’t committed to actually addressing the problem in an equitable, sustainable way  We are failing at educating our campus population  We are trying to solve the problem with an old model What do we do now?  Change the conversation  Include all the stakeholders: Parking, Public Safety, HR, Diversity, Facilities, Sustainability, Faculty Senate, SGA, Campus Planning, Orientation
