1 Empower Maryland: 30-Second TV Spot Father and Daughter

2 Father and Daughter: Discovery Of What’s On Frame One: 5 seconds ENVIRONMENT: Betsy is a 5-7 year old girl. She grabs her note book and a pencil. She’s about to walk around the house with her father in search of lights, electronics, appliances, power chargers, etc. that are on or are left plugged in without being needed or used. Her father stands right next to her. She looks at him and acts a bit annoyed. GIRL: Dad are you ready to go around the house to check what’s on? ENVIRONMENT: father looks at girl and says: FATHER: OK Betsy, lets go! MUSIC: something mysterious, this is an investigation, but funny and with a sense of humor

3 Father and Daughter: Discovery Of What’s On Frame Two: 6 seconds ENVIRONMENT: the girl starts to walk. She enters the living room, the TV is on but nobody is watching it…shakes her head with disapproval, makes a note on her notebook, switches off the TV and keeps walking…. Frame Three: 5 seconds ENVIRONMENT: the girl continues her inspection. From the living room she enters a hobby room and finds 5 lights on. Shakes her head again, makes a funny face, opens her notebook and makes another note and she turns off the light switch. As the girl writes, the father is trying to peek in with great curiosity. The girl notices it, closes the notebook and looks at her father. VOICE: leaving TVs, light and electronics on when not needed leads to higher energy costs and carbon emissions. MUSIC: still mysterious…

4 Father and Daughter: Discovery Of What’s On Frame Four: 6 ENVIRONMENT: The girl enters her parents’ room and she finds three power chargers plugged in without anything attached. She shakes her head again, points to them with her finger, looks at her father with disapproval. Her father looks a bit embarrassed and uncomfortable. VOICE: Unplug TVs, laptops and other electronics in your home when not needed and save more than $100 a year in an average household. VOICE: You benefit. Maryland benefits. The environment benefits. Frame five: 4 seconds ENVIRONMENT: the “What’s On?” graphic appears with the icons rotating gently. A sound signature is used to accent the appearance of “what’s On” on the screen. Frame six: 4 seconds ENVIRONMENT: Pepco logo and tagline appear. EmpMD logo and standard write up appear at the bottom. VOICE: Pepco. Your Life. Plugged In.
