● Popular culture is defined as cultural activities or commercial products reflecting, suited to or aimed at the tastes of general masses of people, much easier said: something aimed to please the basic human of our society. ● Popular culture is something that constantly changes and occurs uniquely in space and time. It forms currents and certain beliefs that turn into perspectives and values which influence society. Items of popular culture generally appeal to a broad spectrum of public. ● The eyeliner is a cosmetic used to define the eyes. It is applied around the contour of the eyes to create a variety of aesthetic effects. No matter how much time it took you to master it, the cat eye is one of those iconic eyeliner looks that will never go out of style. And many women have worn it throughout history.

It was first used in Ancient Egypt as a dark black line around the eye and it was also spotted on the great female ruler Cleopatra. Researchers say that Egyptians used cosmetics as a way to protect their skin from the sun and it was believed that the cat eye protected the wearer from the evil eye.

Then followed the 1920s cat eye look. The icon of this look is Josephine Baker, a French singer and dancer who popularized the cat eye during the roaring ‘20s. She paired it with over-the-top lashes, so what’s not to love?

The 1940s cat eye appeared during the period when soldiers during World War II would pin up photos of voluptuous models. Aside from their amazing hair and amazing hair accessories these ladies had in common a beautiful drawn-out cat eye.

Brigitte Bardot was the one who popularized the cat eye during the 1950s and her eyes were almost always lined in inky black before winging it out into the quintessential small-flick cat eye.

Twiggy was the iconic wearer of the 1960s cat eye, her oversized eyes being perfect for the look.

When Aladdin hit the silver screen in '92, millions of girls dubbed Jasmine their favorite Disney princess. And while we can't say for sure, I’m going to guess that her 1990s cat eye had something to do with it.

Lauren Conrad was the one to revive the cat eye during the early 2000s stating that she thinks it compliments her eyes a lot better than eyeshadow.

At Anthony Vaccarello’s Spring 2014 models were seen wearing a more graphic version of the cat eye which was later on seen on many other celebrities and lots of designers jumped on the train too.
