Genesis Lesson Planner Teacher In-Service March 24, 2016

 Administration will be requiring a STANDARDIZED FORMAT for your lesson plans, using the Lesson Planner Tab in Genesis  Genesis Lesson Planning will NOT be mandatory until January, 2017  Teachers can create Unit Plans with just a “Title” considering that all of the information is already in Atlas Rubicon  You will need to add the Standards to your Lesson Plans 2 Rationale

Agenda  Setting Up and Customizing Your Lesson Book  Tour of the Lesson Planner Parts  Creating a New Lesson Plan  Required Lesson Plan Components  Editing, Copying, Moving, Submitting and Printing Lesson Plans 3

Lesson Plan Parts Lesson Books – The Lesson Planner is organized into Lesson Books. You are automatically given one book per course. Unit Plans – Lesson Books contain Unit Plans. One “default” Unit Plan is automatically created in each Lesson Book. You can have one or more Unit Plans. Unit Plans contain Lesson Plans. Lesson Calendar – Lessons are laid out on your Calendar and assigned to be taught on specific days. These “due dates” can be easily changed and Lesson Plans seamlessly shifted to new dates. Lesson Pals – Your Lesson Pals are other teachers you have requested to collaborate and share your Lesson Plans. 4

What are Lesson Books?  Each Lesson Book represents one course or subject  Each Lesson Book contains one Unit Plan by default  Unit Plan(s) contain Daily Lesson Plans 5

Set-up – Your Lesson Planner 1.Click the Lesson Planner Tab 2.Click the Set-Up Tab 3.Click the check-box to the left of your name 4.Click the Save Screen Button 6

Set-Up Continued 1.Click the Preferences Tab - You can display 1-12 courses or rows on your calendar - Default order is by Period (you can change this to sequence numbers) 7

Lesson Pal Requests 1.Click the Set-up Tab 2.Click the Lesson Pal Requests Tab This tab allows you to invite other teachers to share your lessons. (They must accept your invite) 8

To Set-Up Your Lesson Books Click the Lesson Books Tab, then List Books tab to Set-Up your Lesson Books. This tab allows you to: - Display/Hide classes - Color-code your classes - Add default Standards 9

Click the Calendar Tab to Create Your Lessons  This is the screen where you create your lessons  You can create, copy, edit and move your lessons 10

Click the Create Button Link Click the blue Create link to create your lessons Select the Unit to add your lesson or enter a name to create a new unit 11

Creating a Lesson (continued) This screen allows you to create your lessons You can change the Title You can create lessons for 1-6 days, a Time, and sharable (default) You can add Standards You can check 21 st Themes & 21 st Century Skills Then add Your Goals/Objectives, Activities, Targeted Instruction, Resources and Assessments 12

Creating a Lesson (continued) You can Add Assignments with an check-box to push them to your Gradebook You can Add Documents (This feature has NOT been turned on yet) Be sure to click the SAVE button at the top or bottom of this screen to save your lesson. 13

 Once you create a lesson you can Edit, Move, Delete or Copy it Creating a Lesson (continued) 14

After you create your lessons for the week you need to Post your lessons Once you click the Post button it changes to Submitted You can click Submitted to Un-Post it Creating a Lesson (continued) 15

Printing Lessons You can print your lessons one of two ways: Click print on the left-side of your screen (prints multiple pages, one page per day) Click the Printer icon at the top right-hand side of your screen (this prints weekly lessons or less pages) 16
