GENERAL PHYSICAL EDUCATION BACKGROUND In Thailand, There are core curriculum for the students on Basic Education. They are all learning in compulsory Physical Education Program. The primary school students learn the basic movement and the secondary school students learn the sports For the Health Education Program, The times for learning is alternate with the P.E. classes. The Total times is 1 hour per a week. The students play sports because of the Promotion and support by P.E. teachers and administrator of some school.

Sports Promotion There are over 33,000 Primary and Secondary School in Thailand. Some School not only support and promote the sports for the excellence by recruit elite sports players, but giving the scholarship to the players By the policy of the government support the school of the government bodies to establish sports school.

Background The first sports school(Suphan Buri sports school) in Thailand was established in In 1994 we have Khon Khan, Ubon- ratchathani, and Nakorn-si-thammarat. In 1997 we have Nakorn-sawan and Si sa ket. In 1999 open 4 Sports School, Lumpang, Ang- Thong, Yala, and Chon Buri. And in 2004 the last is Trang Sports School.

1. Suphan Buri Sports School 1991

Revolution At the beginning, the first Sports School was controlled by Department of Physical Education, Ministry of Education. In 2005 Sports School was moved to under controlled and Operated by IPE), Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Now IPE has 13 Sports Schools and the 2 Projects for the 12 th and 13 rd Sports School (in Nakorn-Nayok Province and Chiang-Mai Province).

Administration The Administrative Structure of Sports School included of 4 Departments : 1. General Administration 2. Academic Affair 3. Sports Promotion and Development Affair 4. Students Service Affair

Objective Sports School will :- Provide the Basic Education Curriculum for Sports School Students. Prepare the Elite Athletes for the Country to participate in National and International Level. Research and Development in Sports and Exercise Sciences for the Country.

Principles Sports School is the boarding school. Every student receives scholarship from the Government. Every student is an Athlete. IPE will sent the players and teams to train with another sports school and compete with the same level of the students in our country and oversea. IPE will subsidize the budget for the expert coaches.

11. Trang Sports School 2004

Sports Each sports school chooses 3 – 5 the best sports training for elite athletes. There are 28 sports (both Traditional and International Sports) was trained in 11 Sports School.

12. Nakorn Nayok Sports School 13. Chiang Mai Sports School 2016

Quantity There are about 380 students in sports school, except in Suphan Buri Sports School has 650 Students. Students start from the 7 to 12 grade (except Suphan Buri Sports School start from the 4 to 12 grade). Applicants come from every area of Thailand and foreign students (by zoning the sports).

Transfer and Scholarship Sports School has affiliated with 17 higher education campus of IPE for bachelor degree and cooperated with the other universities. Most students got the scholarship as the project of elite sports players from the private university. IPE give the scholarship for 12 grade(10 students a year) sending to study the bachelor degree and sports training in China and Australia.(started from 2010.)

The group of Sports School Organization At present, Thailand has altogether 28 sports schools classified into 3 groups, according to the types of authority that govern them.

The first group 11 Sports School and 2 Projects are under the jurisdiction of Institute of Physical Education(IPE), Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

Sports Achievement In general, the majority of sports school students attain a high degree of achievement in their chosen Sport at U18 Level. This also proven true with the graduated the Sports School to be successful in their sport career path and at the National and the International competition including the Olympics.
